Chandigarh: Amid the ongoing battle between Punjab and Haryana over Chandigarh, Rajya Sabha member and Aam Aadmi Party's Haryana in-charge Sushil Gupta has said that the Central government should divide Chandigarh into two parts. With this, the AAP leader has given a formula to the two governments to pay Rs 20,000 crore to create separate capitals.

According to a report, AAP leader Gupta has said, "What do we achieve by just criticizing and passing a resolution not to resolve anything?" The state (Punjab) government should go to the Centre and ask for its rights instead of convening a special session and doing nothing. They should ask for half of Chandigarh and Rs 20,000 crore. Gupta was in the city today to lead a meeting of the party's South Zone workers. He said the party will form the government in Haryana also. Gupta said that in 2025, both Haryana and Punjab will have AAP governments. At the same time, he said that both the Capital and SYL issues will be resolved.

Gupta further said, "The present government has no intention of resolving the issues nor was it the intention of their predecessors. They only want to politicise this issue and that is why it has been pending for so many decades. If the two-state governments sit down and talk about the intention of the resolution, the issue will be resolved in a day. CM Khattar does not have a will.'' Apart from talking about water distribution in both the states, we should also discuss about the water going to Pakistan. 70 per cent of our water is going into Pakistan, which should be stopped because our lands are drying up. There was a water crisis in Delhi if every household today has water because it was our intention to solve the problem.
