Aamir Khan's last film Thugs of Hindostan did not perform well at the box office. Now, the actor is to be next seen in Laal Singh Chaddha which is a Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' 1994 classic Forrest Gump. The film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Viacom18 Studios on Saturday announced that the film will hit the theatre on christmas.

Advait Chandan is directing the film from a script by actor-writer Atul Kulkarni. Aamir, 54, had announced the project on his birthday in March. Aamir Khan, said he would be losing around 20 kgs for his role in Laal Singh Chaddha. The actor had also revealed that he would be sporting a turban for some segments of the film.

The film Forrest Gump was based on a 1986 novel by the same name, written by Winston Groom. Tom Hanks played the lead character alongside Robert Wright and Gary Sinise. The movie received several accolades and was the biggest hit of that year. Forrest Gump swept the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing.  The movie also performed well at the Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards, and Young Artist Awards. Hanks was applauded for his performance with a Best Actor Oscar award.
