The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has revealed its first list of 11 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for early next year.
The list features several political figures, including former BJP leaders Brahm Singh Tanwar, Anil Jha, and BB Tyagi, along with former Congress members Chaudhry Zubair Ahmad, Veer Dhingan, and Sumesh Shokeen, all of whom recently joined AAP.
Earlier today, AAP's Political Affairs Committee (PAC) met to finalize the candidate selections. The PAC, which is the party's top decision-making body, is led by national convener Arvind Kejriwal.
Kejriwal had earlier said that the selection of candidates would depend on their work, public opinion, and the likelihood of winning in their respective constituencies. In the previous 2020 elections, AAP secured 62 out of the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly.
Here are the names of the candidates and their constituencies: Brahm Singh Tanwar for Chhatarpur, Anil Jha for Kirari, Deepak Singla for Vishwas Nagar, Sarita Singh for Rohtas Nagar, BB Tyagi for Laxmi Nagar, Ram Singh Netaji for Badarpur, Chaudhry Zubair Ahmad for Seelampur, Veer Dhingan for Seemapuri, Gaurav Sharma for Ghonda, Manoj Tyagi for Karawal Nagar, and Sumesh Shokeen for Matiala.
In a separate development, Delhi BJP workers, led by party president Virendra Sachdeva, held a large protest outside Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, demanding an explanation for the alleged lavish spending on the controversial 'Sheesh Mahal' bungalow.
