New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has rejected the petition of Jail Minister Satyendar Jain in the state's Arvind Kejriwal government, in which he had demanded to be given fruits and dry fruits in the jail. While dismissing the petition, the court made a scathing remark that the Tihar Jail authorities have accorded 'special treatment' to Satyendar Jain by giving him fruits and vegetables, which is in violation of the Delhi Jail Rules. Please inform that Satyendar Jain is imprisoned in Tihar Jail for the last 6 months in a money laundering case. On the questions of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Jain also said that I have lost my memory and I do not remember anything. Due to this Jain is facing problems in getting bail, along with this, suspicion is also increasing on him.
According to the report, on Saturday (November 26, 2022), Special Justice Vikas Dhul of Delhi High Court said that no special facility should be given to any prisoner in the jail. Justice has said that giving fruits or vegetables to Satyendar Jain by Tihar Jail staff without the order of DGP Jail or any authority is a violation of DPR 2018. The court also noted that providing 'special' fruits and vegetables to Satyendar Jain was violative of Article 14 of the Constitution of India, 1950, as the state government is bound to treat all prisoners equally and irrespective of caste, creed, No discrimination can be done on the basis of gender, religion, etc. Indian law does not allow any discrimination of rich-poor, male, female, or any other kind.
Quoting his remarks, Justice Vikas Dhull said that his remarks about 'special treatment' are corroborated by the fact that the DGP (Prisons) of Tihar Jail No. 7 (where Satyendar Jain is lodged) and about 26 officials have been transferred and the jail superintendent has been suspended. Not only this, the court rejected the argument of jailed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain's lawyer in a money laundering case, in which he said that Jain's weight was 28 kg due to the non-availability of dry fruits. has decreased. However, Tihar Jail sources say that Jain's weight has increased by 8 kg. Please tell that in his petition, Satyendar Jain had demanded to provide food in jail, according to religious fasting. However, the court turned down this plea of Satyendar Jain. Overall, dry fruits and fruits will no longer be included in the food served to Satyendar Jain in jail.
