NEW DELHI:  AAP and RJD, two opposition parties, demanded on Monday that the upcoming Budget session of Parliament, which starts on Tuesday, include discussion of the Adani Group issue and the research firm Hindenburg's report on the subject.

These parties brought up the issue at the all-party gathering that Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi called on Monday, the day before the budget session.  The Congress, however,  skipped the meeting.

The US-based research firm Hindenburg's study, which expressed concern about the prospect that the shares of Adani Group firms may decline from their current levels due to high valuations, has caused a political uproar.

After the all-party meeting, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh spoke to the media and encouraged the government to bring up the Adani-Hindenburg issue during the ensuing session of Parliament.

The AAP leader added that organisations like the RJD, CPI, CPIM, and DMK wanted to raise the Adani issue in Parliament as well. It is also rumoured that the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray group) supported the demand.

Sudeep Bandyopadhyay, the leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), told reporters that the party will bring up the Adani issue in Parliament if it came up in the Business Advisory Committee's (BAC) meeting.

TMC also raised the issue of banning screening of the BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Bandyopadhyay expressed concern over the lack of discussion of problems like the growing unemployment rate and women's empowerment in Congress.

The Bahujan Samaj Party brought up the subject of Chinese espionage and requested that the Parliament discuss it.
After the discussion, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi informed reporters that the opposition parties brought up a number of problems, which the administration is prepared to examine in Parliament in accordance with the norms.
