Aasif Sheikh: Delhi is bred for celebration

Aasif Sheikh recently visited Delhi and spent time there reliving his formative years, including attending the Ramlila at the Red Fort Grounds and strolling along Janpath. The actor, who is presently portraying Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai! spent a day in the city. Furthermore, even though he feels nostalgic upon returning to Delhi, he claims that this trip was unique. I know Delhi has a different charm during the holiday season because I was raised here. I believe that celebrations are in Delhi's genetic makeup, and it's amazing to see how people here come together to celebrate. And I consider it a blessing that I was able to travel to Delhi during the holiday season," Aasif continues.

The actor recalls his time in Delhi by saying, "We used to live in Basant Lane, which is next to the Plaza Cinema in Connaught Place. Since he worked for the railroads, my father was given a house there. I would go with my sisters to a nearby neighbourhood to watch Ramadan. My fascination with the stage, actors, and performances began when I was a young child, and I believe that it has had a lasting impact on my mind and heart as well as influencing the way I view the stage and how I develop as an actor. Because of this, I can truly say that Delhi is where my roots are. The highlight of his brief visit, he continues, was his first Ramlila in the capital in years. "I had the opportunity to see Ramlila at Red Fort Grounds. It was my second time going to Ramlila there. Although Chandni Chowk and the neighbourhood around it have undergone significant change, they still retain the welcoming atmosphere of Dilli 6. The food is still the same in this place. My favourite chhole kulche, aloo tikki chaat, was served to me at Ramlila, and I was surprised to discover that the flavour is exactly the same as it was 30 years ago. I adore chhole kulche so much that I've discovered one chhole kulche wala in Mumbai as well, per Dilli wali baat nahi hai wahan, the actor reveals.

Aasif appreciates the city's warmth in addition to its cuisine. "I keep looking for employment that will take me to Delhi. Yahan ek warmth is present; apan is present when kahin is not present. Ek alag garamjoshi hai unke andar, jo main bahut miss karta hoon, is the way Delhiites greet each other with hugs and handshakes. I am grateful for my Delhi upbringing as well, which helped shape who I am as an actor today. My zuban is better because I'm from Delhi. Delhi ne mujhe ek achhi zubaan di hai," says Aasif. "Ek actor ka sabse bada hathyaar uski zubaan hoti hai.
