Bangalore: ABB, a  leading technology company that works with utility, industry, transportation, and infrastructure customers in India, announced on Thursday that its Nelamangala unit has received The Energy and Resources Institute's 'Water Positive' certification (TERI).

"Becoming 'Water Positive' at our Nelamangala facility is a step toward sustained resource conservation, in accordance with our 2030 worldwide sustainability targets."

Sanjeev Sharma, Country Head and Managing Director, ABB India, said, "We are dedicated to implementing numerous other comparable environment-friendly practises across all ABB India facilities to bring about a sustainable transformation."

Rather than just restoring the amount of water removed from the environment, the unit used an Innovative 6R method to 'Water Positivity,' according to the company, to replenish more water than it consumes at the area.

Rainwater use and recharge, reduced freshwater use, water recycling, and real-time monitoring of water consumption, recharge, and saving are all part of the strategy. There are 17 rainwater recharge wells, two recharge ponds, and five cross wave technology-based recharge tanks at ABB's Nelamangala facility. According to the company, ABB devices such as water flow metres were put in the rainwater recharge system to record real-time data.
