I salute him on his birth anniversary. ' Kalam served as President for five years from 2002, gaining the support of both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress. Born in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu on October 15, 1931, Kalam was involved in the country's civil space program and military missile development efforts, which earned him the honor of being the 'Missile Man of India'.

Kalam worked primarily as a scientific and science administrator at the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) before becoming President. Kalam received several prestigious awards including Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor.
