On this occasion, PM Modi tweeted a humble tribute to APJ Abdul Kalam Ji on his birth anniversary. He dreamed of an able and capable India of the 21st century and made his special contribution in this direction. His ideal life will always inspire the countrymen '. Along with this, he wrote that India salutes him on the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also remembered Kalam, tweeting, he wrote, 'He was the President of the people, who will live in the hearts and minds of the people of India. I salute him on his birth anniversary. ' Kalam served as President for five years from 2002, gaining the support of both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress. Born in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu on October 15, 1931, Kalam was involved in the country's civil space program and military missile development efforts, which earned him the honor of being the 'Missile Man of India'.

Kalam worked primarily as a scientific and science administrator at the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) before becoming President. He played an important role technically and politically in India's Pokhran-2 nuclear tests in 1998, shortly after the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government came to power. Kalam received several prestigious awards including Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor. Kalam was giving a lecture to the students of IIM Shillong on 27 July 2015, during which he suffered a heart attack, in which he died.
