New Delhi [India] Jan. 22 (NT): Delhi police on Monday arrested a dreaded terrorist associated with banned Students Islamic Movement of India IMI -SIMI - Indian Mujahideen (IM).

Abdul Subhan Qureshi of SIMI-IM was detained by the Special Cell of Delhi Police after a brief exchange of fire.

DCP Pramod Kushwaha confirmed his arrest and said that Qureshi, who had gone underground for the last a number of years, had returned to India to stimulate Indian Mujahideen

“Abdul Subhan Qureshi was living with forged documents in Nepal. He came back to India to revive Indian Mujahideen”, DCP Pramod Kushwaha, Special Cell Delhi confirmed.

“We have arrested India most wanted terrorist Abdul Subhan Qureshi who is also the founder of Indian Mujahideen. He was again trying to revive Indian Mujahideen “, DCP Pramod Kushwaha, Special Cell Delhi further said

 According to police officials, Qureshi was mixed up in 2008 serial blasts in Gujarat and was in the Delhi to carry out a big conspiracy ahead of the Republic Day.

 As per collected data, The 2008 Gujarat bombings were a series of 21 bomb blasts that smacked Ahmedabad, India, on July 26, 2008, within a period of 70 minutes. 56 people were killed and over 200 people were injured. (NT)
