Sayeed Ibrahim, who has shot the yet-to-be-released film Yaama, starring Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, has roped in Abi Saravanan and Priyanka for his new film, titled Dharaathipan. “It’s a love-and-revenge drama based on a real-life event that happened in north India. The plot will revolve around a romance, which ends up in marriage. And when this family is destroyed, it compels the protagonist to seek revenge,” says Sayeed.

Abi Saravanan is his long-time friend and they had been talking about doing a film together, he says. “I felt he suited this character and he said yes and came forward to produce it. The actor’s character will have three-four looks. He will be seen as a college student, a newly married man, and then, as a man possessed by the desire to take revenge, so you will see his looks changing from a 20-something youngster to a 40-year-old man,” reveals Sayeed.

He was impressed with Priyanka’s acting in Miga Miga Avasaram and signed her on to play the female lead.

Veteran writer Kalaignanam will be playing a crucial role in this film. “He hasn’t acted in many films and I’m very happy that he said yes to this role. He will be seen as a grandfather who is determined to save his grandson,” he reveals.

LV Muthuganesh, who has earlier composed for Thuppakki Munai, will be scoring the music for this film, while Sakthivel, who has shot Sayeed’s previous film, will be the cinematographer. Anand Geraldin, the editor of films like Lock Up and Bhoomika, is also part of the crew. The team is planning to shoot once the lockdown ends and the government allows the film industry to resume shoots.
