KANYAKUMARI: Benedict Anto, a priest for the Syro Malankara Catholic Church in the Kanyakumari district, was detained by Tamil Nadu Police on Monday, March 20, days after his personal videos and pictures surfaced on social media. 

Since his personal tapes went viral and claimed that he was having relationships with married women and minors, Benedict Anto has been running away. Especially on social media, Benedict Anto's private recordings became the talk of the town, and many people accused the priest of engaging in illicit connections with the women who visited his church. Benedict Anto was accused by many social media users of being a sexual predator who would send vulgar messages and inappropriately kiss and touch women. Then, by threatening to make their private movies public, he would pressure these women into remaining silent.

As per multiple reports, a woman complained to the police that Anto had falsely accused her son Austin Gino of harassing his female companion, a medical student, because Austin had the temerity to confront him about it. In addition, the complainant charged that the priest had threatened the ladies in his church with videos of their private moments in addition to sexually abusing them. 

A Tamil media report further suggest that Anto is also accused of trapping women of various ages, including little girls. The priest also caught a medical student who was reportedly the daughter of a prominent religious figure. Using photographs of them and WhatsApp messages, he blackmailed his victims, claiming that if they didn't share their secrets, he would sexually exploit them. He used this technique to trap married ladies as well.

As per reports, Benedict Anto's scandalous videos were leaked by a group of men who attacked him a few days ago and stole his laptop.
