Corona's new variant Omicron has started wreaking havoc in many countries of the world. Amid its growing pace, vaccine maker Pfizer has warned that the corona epidemic could persist till 2024. In fact, Pfizer's forecast comes after the emergence of the Omicron variant last month and has more than 50 mutations compared to the original version of the virus. Omicron has reduced the effectiveness of two doses of vaccine against infection and has created a fear of rapid spread around the world.

Pfizer Chief Scientific Officer Mikhail Dolsten said in a presentation to investors, "The company expects the corona epidemic to continue in some areas in the next one or two years. The infection will spread to other countries during this period. On the other hand, Dolsten said, "The company estimates that by 2024, the epidemic will become endemic worldwide. He added, "Its speed will depend on the effects and treatments of vaccines. The pace of vaccination has to be increased in the low immunization area.''

Before the arrival of the Omicron variant, top American pathologist Anthony Faussi predicted that the epidemic in the United States would end in 2022, but the way the new variant is gaining momentum suggests that this prediction may prove to be wrong. Speaking of Pfizer, it also has an experimental antiviral pill called Paxlovid, which has reduced hospitalization stake in clinical trials and deaths in high-risk individuals by about 90 per cent. According to Refinitiv's IBES data, three analysts estimate that $15 billion to $25 billion will be sold next year. In addition, US company Pfizer has developed its Covid-19 vaccine with Germany's Bionic SE and is expected to generate revenue of $31 billion by next year.
