Bihar govt tightens its grip on toxic liquor, raids on several hideouts

Patna: Lakhs of litres of liquor have been seized during raids in Bihar. Bihar Excise Commissioner B Kartikeya Dhanji said that in the last 10 days, 19,175 raids were conducted across the state in which about 4,000 cases were registered and 4,670 accused have been taken into custody and sent to jail.

He said that about 1,70,000 bulk litres of liquor was also seized and 400 trains have been recovered in the same order. He also said that continuous raids are being conducted at places where poisonous liquor is produced and action will also be taken to monitor all those places with drones.

On the other hand, the State Religious Trust Board has taken a major decision on public temples in Bihar. From now on, all public temples in the state will have to pay 4 per cent. The religious trust board's decision also covers temples that a person opens to all people after constructing them in his house. All of them will have to register themselves from now on and pay tax. The Religious Trust Board has decided to launch a special drive for the registration of temples from December 1.
