New Delhi:- The Screen Actors Guild-Federation of Television and Radio Artists of America (SAG-AFTRA) and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) will formally go on strike together for the first time in 63 years.

But along with concerns about better benefits, wages, and working conditions, there is also a decidedly modern question of how studios will use AI.

Some media publications have already replaced authors with AI, so it's no wonder the WGA wants a guardrail.

Even stranger, SAG-AFTRA chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree Ireland said the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and the studio executives it represents want to use AI to create scans of background actors. claimed to be Cast members are paid for a day's work, but studios can use the scans whenever they want. That's exactly what happened to Salma Hayek in the Black Mirror episode "Joan is Terrible."

Background actors (such as coffee shop customers and school students), who typically play non-speaking roles to fill scenes, earn an average of $385,000 a year, according to Indeed. 

Technology is also being used to age actors, even when they have died. Peter Cushing, who died in 1994, "starred" in 2016's Rogue One.

Star Wars story with many TV and film productions shutting down, people working in other areas of the entertainment industry are also out of work.

Restaurants in the Los Angeles area that offer catering or host industry meetings and events are also struggling, with some reporting a 40% drop in sales, according to the Los Angeles Times.

For the rest of us, we may have to wait longer for our favorite shows and movies. Already postponed are Stranger Things, Andor, Severance, and Captain America, especially "Brave New World".

In America, a strike is going on and is recorded as the first time strike between the Screen Actors and the Writers Guide after 63 years relating to the AI that the industry might enable and many of them would lose their jobs because of this
