Riya Kumari popularly known as Isha Alya an actress and YouTuber from Jharkhand was on her way to Kolkata from Ranchi along with her husband Prakash Kumar, and her three-year-old daughter. She was shot dead during a highway robbery attempt in West Bengal’s Howrah district.

Prakash Kumar her husband a film producer from Jharkhand says the incident took place at around 6 am while they were traveling to Kolkata from Ranchi. He was driving the vehicle and the couple's three-year-old daughter was also traveling with them. According to his statement given to the police, he stopped the vehicle near Mahishrekha bridge at Bagnan under Uluberia sub-division of Howrah district to attend to nature's call.

After that three miscreants with firearms approached them with the intention of robbing them of money and other valuables. When the couple tried to resist, one of the miscreants shot at Riya from point-blank range and she immediately fell down bleeding profusely. Prakash also claimed that they fled from the spot and he drove to a nearby locality and informed the locals.

The police reached the spot and immediately rushed Riya to the Uluberia sub-division hospital. She had died by then. The police have started an investigation and are questioning Prakash Kumar for further details. Police launched a probe on Wednesday. Prakash Kumar was arrested on Thursday.

The family members have accused Kumar and alleged that he had a history of being violent with his wife. Her family also alleged that her income from YouTube videos irked Kumar. He used to suspect that Kumari was having an affair. He would also take money from her. The police official said, “We have spoken to the husband, and since the daughter is too young we may talk to her later as we do not want to cause her more trouble. We will also speak to the locals whom the man approached for help."
