South Indian film industry and Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Hyderabad on Friday to probe a money laundering case related to drug trafficking. She was summoned by the ED to appear before it. The case pertains to the 2017 bust of a gang of drug traffickers in Hyderabad.

 

 

The ED had summoned 10 Telugu cinema personalities in connection with the sensational gang of supplying expensive drugs like LSD and MDMA. The gang was busted by the Prohibition and Excise Department of Telangana. The ED has questioned Telugu cinema director Puri Jagannath and actress Charmi Kaur in the case.

The same drug gang was busted in July 2017 and several drug trafficking cases were registered and more than 20 persons including a US citizen, a Portuguese citizen, a South African national were arrested. In addition, seven persons with B.Tech degrees working in multinational companies were detained here. The names of some Tollywood (Telugu film industry) persons had come to light after questioning those arrested in connection with the gang. An SIT of Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department had also investigated the alleged drug case related to Tollywood and then 11 persons belonging to Telugu cinema were questioned.
