Kolkata: The BJP continues to suffer setbacks after its defeat in the Assembly in West Bengal. Bengali film actress Srabanti Chatterjee, who joined the BJP ahead of the assembly elections, has announced to quit the party. At the same time, she has accused the party of not understanding the seriousness of the BJP towards Bengal and the spirit of the welfare of the individuals.

Let me tell you that after the Assembly elections, the Bengal BJP is constantly vying to quit the party. So far, five Bengal MLAs and several leaders including the former minister and MP Babul Supriyo have left the party. Bengali actress Srabanti Chatterjee had suppressed the BJP in the presence of BJP leaders Kailash Vijayvargiya and Dilip Ghosh and others ahead of the assembly elections. In Bengal, many Bengali actors and actresses had joined the BJP earlier but have been consistently moving away from the party since the elections.

Srabanti Chatterjee is a popular actress in Bengali films. Srabanti, 34, made her debut with the Bengali film 'Mayar Badhon' in 1997. Thereafter, she has acted in more superhit movies. Srabanti's last time appeared in the film 'Lockdown.' The actress has acted in director Anurag Basu's Hindi serial, Love Story, Vakt and Ladies Special. She has also appeared on the cover page of the popular Bengali magazine 'Unish Kuri.'
