New Delhi: A new name has emerged in the race to buy Air India, the government airline company. Sources say that the country's giant company Adani Group is planning to buy Air India. This is the first time when the debt-ridden state-run airline company is thinking of buying the Adani Group. Earlier, the name of Tata Group has come in the media to buy Air India.

Sources say that Adani Group can file Expression of Interest (EoI) to buy the government airline. Preparations for this have started. It is noteworthy that the Adani Group is in the race to become India's largest airport operator. The group currently operates Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Mangalore airports. The company has also applied for the operation of Thiruvananthapuram, Ahmedabad, and Guwahati.

Stock market closed with heavy fall

Giving information related to the case, it has been told that the Adani Group may face a legal challenge in buying Air India because Adani Group is already operating some airports. However, any final decision has to be taken by the Modi government at the Center.
