Jaipur: Now The Control of Jaipur International Airport has also been given to Adani Group (Adani Group). Adani Group acquired control of the airport from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) from Monday. The government has leased the airport to Adani Group for 50 years. Airport director JS Balhara handed over the symbolic key of the airport to Adani Jaipur International Limited Chief Airport Officer Vishnu Jha on Monday.

According to media reports, Balhara said jaipur airport will now be operated, managed and developmented by Adani Group on the PPP model. It may be recalled that Adani Group already has six airports and now the seventh airport under its control. Adani Group of billionaire businessman Gautam Adani completed the takeover of Mumbai International Airport last July. Adani Group has been strengthening its grip in the aviation sector over the past few years.

The central government had ordered bidding in 2019 to hand over the management of the country's major airports to private hands. It was then decided to provide management and operation to adani group at ahmedabad, lucknow, jaipur, mangaluru, guwahati and thiruvananthapuram airports. Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of the group's 100 per cent stake, had bagged a tender to operate the airport for 50 years, overtaking a big player like GMR.
