New Delhi: Serum Institute of India (SII) Chief Executive Officer Adar Poonawalla says that the companies that manufacture the Coronavirus vaccine should protect the government from any kind of legal trouble. He also said that if the vaccine has any adverse or harmful effect on anyone, then the company should have no accountability.

Poonawala made this statement during a virtual panel discussion on the challenges faced in the path of the vaccine. He said that if companies are involved in such type of legal matters then they can become insolvent or confused. According to Poonawalla, his company plans to put this proposal before the government. He says that the government should make rules that no legal cases should be filed against vaccine manufacturers.

Poonawala further said that this is necessary in the time of this epidemic because if a case is registered on the side effects of the vaccine, then it will scare the people to get the vaccine. He said that to stop this, the Government of India should bring a law that allows companies to focus on making vaccines instead of dealing with legal matters.
