Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has appealed to the Asian Development Bank to increase private sector activities with the intention of reducing poverty and generating employment. He also praised the ADB for its help in the ongoing campaign against Corona. On Friday, while addressing the 53rd annual meeting of the ADB's governing board via video conference, Sitharaman gave the institute a private plus in Mumbai for operational activities with greater commitment in the South Asia Sub-Regional Economic Assistance Secretariat and Private Place in India. Also invited to set up an operational branch office.

Also, from the point of view of the need for development at the world level and the solution of poverty, she said that ADB should increase the amount and size of the loan. Also, time is needed to increase the activities of private sector to speed up development including employment generation. Further Sitharaman said that the country has the capacity to receive about four billion dollars annually from sovereign operations and to take about US $ 1.5 billion annually from private sector financing system.

Also, the finance minister said that ADB's activities are increasing in the country and accordingly Indian citizens should be represented at the middle and upper management and staff levels. This will help in keeping the approach to Indian challenges in a grand manner. Sitharaman suggested that ADB needs to work towards strengthening the capital base to achieve the objectives of 'Strategy 2030' amidst increasing global challenges with increasing credit access. Many changes can happen with this.
