Kolkata: Senior Congress leader and West Bengal Congress unit president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has demanded the immediate expulsion of Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee from the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He has also written a letter to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee demanding the termination of Parth's party membership. Adhir Ranjan wrote in his letter that Partha Chatterjee, who was holding the post of Education Minister during 2014-2021, has been accused of irregularities in teacher recruitment. In such a situation, he should be dismissed from the Ministry.
The Congress leader also wrote in his letter that everyone in Bengal knew about this scam. He said that when the court intervened in the matter, the investigating agencies went and initiated action. Now the truth has come out. It is a big blot on the Government of West Bengal. At the same time, on this issue, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has said that she does not support corruption or any wrongdoing. "If anyone is found guilty, he should be punished. But, I condemn the propaganda that is being spread against me. The truth should come out within a certain time frame.''
Let me tell you that Parth was in charge of the education department at the time of the teacher recruitment scam in the state-sponsored and aided schools. The department was later taken from them. The court had asked the CBI to investigate the irregularities. ED is looking into the money laundering aspect of the scam. The central agency is probing the economic transactions in the teacher recruitment scam.
