Kolkata: Three phases of polling have been held in West Bengal and political parties are gearing up for the remaining phases. In Bengal, cm Mamata Banerjee's party TMC and the BJP are witnessing a direct contest, though the Congress-Left alliance cannot be ignored. The question arises whether Congress will support if the TMC needs it after the results. West Bengal Congress unit president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has also reacted to the question.

When asked if Congress would support the TMC if needed, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "There is no time for a hypothetical question now as we are moving forward to capture Nabana (Chief Minister's Office).'' We don't know where Mamata Banerjee will go, if she loses. Politics is the art of possibilities.

In West Bengal, 84.61 percent polling has been recorded in 31 assembly seats in the third phase on April 6. The state recorded 84.13 and 86.11 percent polling in the first and second phases respectively. Out of 294 assembly seats in the state, 91 have been contested and five more phases are yet to be held. As per the election commission's schedule, the results will be declared on May 2.
