New Delhi: The Supreme Court has been in discussion over its internal disputes since last year. Last year, senior court judges addressed a press conference alleging external interference in the normal functioning of the court. This was the first case of its kind in the country. Once again, the functioning of the court has been questioned. In fact, former Supreme Court Bar Association President and senior advocate Dushyant Dave has written a letter to Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi alleging that there was an irregularity in listing two cases relating to the Adani group before a summer vacation bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra.

Dave wrote this 11-page letter on Friday. He termed it as a violation of the procedure for listing the cases before the summer vacation bench of the Supreme Court. Senior advocate Dave wrote that the situation has deteriorated even after the press conference of four senior judges on January 12, 2018, over the conduct of the Supreme Court. The administrative reforms in the Supreme Court have become worse, far away.

Matters relating to far-reaching issues and political issues for the country and the institution were handed over to the benches with no justification in a planned manner. Referring to two cases of the Adani Group, he wrote that these cases were listed before a bench headed by Justice Mishra during the summer vacation, which was a violation of the procedure of the Supreme Court. There was also no need for an urgent hearing on these cases. The opposition has been accusing the government of interfering in the functioning of the judiciary on an equal scale.
