NIMROZ : In the Kang region of Nimroz province, residents and local officials say a clash erupted between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan's border soldiers and Iranian border guards.

Local officials verified the clash, which occurred on Monday evening, and said it began as a result of a misunderstanding between the two countries' personnel, according to reports. According to sources, the conflict began when Iranian border forces invaded Kang region to interfere with local Afghan farmers working on a canal near the Kamal Khan dam.

Iranian soldiers infiltrated into Afghanistan in Kang district, where they clashed with Afghan border forces, according to sources. Two Iranian forces personnel were killed as a result of the fight. Their automobile had been abandoned.

"On Monday evening, border forces from Afghanistan and Iran clashed in Nimroz's Kang area," claimed Hussain Khpalwak, a Nimroz farmer. The number of those killed in the confrontation has yet to be determined by local officials.

"The border issues should be resolved through dialogue, and both parties should resolve these issues," said Rahmatullah, a local resident. "Recent conflicts between Afghan and Iranian forces have happened, which is not in the interests of either country," said Abdul Hameed Watandost, a civil society activist in Nimroz.
