Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the Acting Defense Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, stated that Afghanistan will begin with a 110,000-member army and will expand if necessary.

Mujahid added in an interview with Afghanistan's state television, RTA, that since the Taliban took power, they have trained 10,000 people for the army and 80,000 more have registered. Mujahid also stated that the ministry's 4,000 aircraft and planes, as well as tens of vehicles, had been reactivated.

About former Afghan government officers, the interim Defense Ministry stated that up to 90% of the ministry's personnel are former officers, and that those who are now training overseas have been contacted and promised to return to the nation and do their jobs.

Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob Mujahid denied claims that Afghan military equipment was being carried to Pakistan, saying that the country's borders are being closely monitored and that no one will be allowed to take the weapons out of Afghanistan. He criticised neighbours Iran and Turkmenistan for recent border skirmishes, and said Afghan border guards are instructed to be cautious and courteous to all soldiers from neighbouring nations.

Regarding Pakistan's barbed wire along the Durand Line, Mujahid stated that no one has been authorised to erect fences and that the IEA's leadership would make the ultimate decision on the barriers. Likewise other Taliban officials, Mujahid also underrated ISIS-K and said that the terror group is not a threat to Afghanistan.
