KABUL: A powerful bomb exploded in a wedding hall during a wedding ceremony in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan. According to news agency Reuters, 63 people were killed and 182 others were injured in the blast. A spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the attack early Sunday morning. Security forces have cordoned off the area as a precautionary measure.

No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack. According to news agency Sinhua, spokesman Nasrat Rahi wrote on his official Twitter account that the blast took place around 10 p.m. inside the city-e-Dubai Wedding Hall in Kabul's Police District 6. It happened at 40 o'clock (local time). "The dead and injured have been rushed to hospital by police and Kabul ambulance," he said. '

He said dozens of people were present inside the wedding hall when the blast occurred near the stage in the two-storey building. Eyewitnesses said the hall was packed with people and all of them had come to attend the wedding ceremony of an Afghan couple. There are reports of such terrorist attacks in Afghanistan every day.
