Suicide blast outside Kabul University kills, 9 killed 33 injured

KABUL: A suicide bomber riding in a car loaded with explosives blew himself up near a gate of Kabul University in Afghanistan on Friday. Nine people were killed and 33 others are reported to be injured in the attack. Officials have given information in this regard. "A bomb exploded at 07.10 a.m. local time at the southern gate of Kabul University," Kabul police spokesman Firdos Faramraj told media. At that time, many students had gathered to take the exam."

Public Health Ministry spokesman Wahid Meyer told the press that the death toll was known. He also said that the injured have been taken to hospital. His treatment is ongoing. Citing preliminary investigation, the Interior Ministry said the bomb used was an improvised explosive device attached to the Toyota Corolla car.

The ministry said the dead included a traffic policeman. Farramz said the police were vigilant and had received an intelligence information about a possible car blast in Kabul. Two cars were also destroyed in the blast. Taliban has claimed responsibility for Thursday's suicide attack on a police station in the southern Kandahar province. It killed 12 people and injured more than 90.
