Kabul: A blast in Kandhar province, south of Afghanistan, killed two US (US) soldiers and two other soldiers are said to be injured. The coalition army confirmed this. According to the news agency Xinhua, the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission Army said in a statement on Saturday that, "A US military vehicle collided with an IED in Kandhar province today and exploded, killing two soldiers." And two other soldiers were injured.

Terrorist organizations of the Taliban have been using terrorist indigenous bombs (IEDs) to make roadside bombs and landmines to attack security forces. According to the brief statement, these soldiers were campaigning as part of the Resolute Support Mission. The statement simply did not provide much information, stating that, "As per US Department of Defense policy, the names of soldiers killed in action are not made public for 24 hours after being reported to their families."

Taliban militants have claimed responsibility for the attack. The alleged Taliban spokesman, Jabiullah Mujahid, wrote that the rebels had planted a roadside bomb against an overseas army near an airbase outside the provincial capital, Kandahar City. The security situation in Kandhar, formerly a stronghold of the Taliban, has improved in a few months. Security forces have conducted search operations across the province. However, from time to time, terrorists attack government properties and people.
