A few days ago, the US dollar has depreciated against Afghanistan's native currency, the Afghani, according to the country's central bank.
According to the Da Afghanistan Bank's (DAB) foreign currency rate, the value of a dollar has plummeted from 103.3 afghanis on January 27 to 86.86 afghanis on Sunday, according to Xinhua news agency. In Kabul's markets, the cost of food and non-food goods have also decreased.
The surge of the US dollar versus the Afghani a few months ago was apparently driven by a lack of the greenback and significant demand in the local market.
