The Afghan caretaker government announced on Saturday that Abdul Salam Rahimi, the former government's state minister for peace, had returned to Afghanistan.

According to media reports, Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi and numerous other top officials welcomed Rahimi to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday. Following the Taliban's takeover, many Afghan security forces and public officials left the country. According to the statement, efforts were ongoing to ensure that all Afghans who had left the country return.
