Afghanistan: Heavy snowfall has claimed 42 lives, More than 70 injured

According to local media, at least 42 people have died and 76 have been injured in Afghanistan as a due to severe snowfall.
Heavy snowfall in 15 provinces of Afghanistan killed 42 people and injured 76, according to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan's State Ministry for Disaster Management Affairs.

In the last 20 days, nearly 2,000 houses have been destroyed across Afghanistan, according to the State Ministry.  Emergency help has been delivered to affected people, according to authorities from the Ministry of Disaster Management, and they are working hard to avert more disasters. Meanwhile Deputy Minister Enayatullah Shuja claimed that hundreds of passengers were trapped on different roadways due to heavy snowfall and that the rescue operation is still ongoing.

Shuja also stated that they are collaborating with several humanitarian organisations to provide immediate support to people affected. Two earthquakes struck western Badghis province last week, killing 28 lives and destroyed up to 1,000 homes. Due to unemployment, malnutrition, and drought, Afghanistan's humanitarian catastrophe has been worsened by a cold winter and heavy snowfall.
