New Delhi: Aftab Poonawalla, the main accused in the Shraddha Walker murder case, has withdrawn his bail plea. On Thursday (December 22), Aftab withdrew his bail plea from Delhi Saket court through his lawyers. On December 17, Aftab had said that he was signed an 'advocacy' but was not aware of filing the bail application.
Additional Sessions Judge Vrinda Kumari said the court received information through email from Aftab Poonawalla that the bail plea was filed by mistake. On December 17, the Additional Sessions Judge had said that Aftab Amin Poonawalla had signed the 'advocacy' but Aftab was not aware of filing the bail application.
At the same time, when the court asked Aftab whether the bail application should be heard, Aftab said, "I would like the lawyer to talk to me and then withdraw the bail application." Aftab was arrested on November 12 and is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. On December 9, the court extended the judicial custody of Aftab Poonawalla by 14 days.
