Bhubaneswar: In view of the danger of corona infection in the country, the apex court had stayed the procession of Lord Jagannath. Now a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking an amendment to the judgment. The petition said that Jagannath Yatra should be allowed to be removed only in Puri. By the way, people in different parts of the country organize local travel. Aartab Hussain, a citizen of Puri, has filed the petition through his lawyer Pranay Kumar Mohapatra.

In the petition, the court has been requested to allow not only 500-600 people to carry out this Yatra and worship but who will take full care of the guidelines and mutual distance related to the rescue and precaution in the wake of the Corona crisis. It is noteworthy that the bench headed by the Chief Justice of the apex court had on Thursday stopped the centuries-old tradition of Lord Jagannath Yatra and activities related to it in Puri, Odisha due to the Corona crisis.

This year, this rath yatra was to be held on 23 June. In general, there are 10 to 12 lakh people gathered in a rath yatra. This ceremony lasts for about 10 days. The apex court had said that the order to stop the rath yatra is necessary for the health protection of the people. During the hearing, the apex court said that Lord Jagannath will never forgive us if we are not stopped during such a crisis.
