NEW DELHI: Aftaab Poonawala, who allegedly killed his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar would have killed her 10 days before but he hesitated as she was crying, sources said.

Because he was active on the dating app Bumble, where the two had first met three years prior, "they had frequent fights, as Shraddha thought that he was cheating on him,"  the source said, "She knew that he was talking to other girls on the dating app and had lost interest in her."

The reports claimed that after a confrontation, Aftab would have killed her ten days earlier but for Shraddha's tears, which caused him to second-guess himself.

The accused allegedly bought a brand-new refrigerator with a high storage capacity the day after dismembering his 27-year-old girlfriend's body on May 18 and placed the remains inside.

He lit incense sticks in his house to mask the smell.

The reports claim that Dexter, an American crime drama about a guy with homicidal impulses who leads a double life, served as Aftab's inspiration.

Aftab was skilled with a knife since he was a qualified chef, said sources. But no one has yet found the knife that was used in the crime.

In 18 days, he had scattered the body parts in the Mehrauli forest. He used to leave his house at around 2 a.m. with a body part in a polybag to escape suspicion.

Aftab used to watch Shraddha's severed head kept in fridge, had relations with many girls in the past
