Puducherry: After a 15-minute session on Wednesday, the Puducherry assembly was adjourned sine die. Speaker of the House R Selvam adjourned the session sine die after completing the scheduled bills.

During the session, the Speaker revealed that Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan had granted his consent to a number of bills. Even as he was making the statement, members of the opposition DMK and Congress rose in protest, urging the Speaker to postpone the session for at least a week. Several concerns, including the NEET examination, the economic status of the Puducherry administration, farmer grievances, and the payment of promised salary to workers in public sector firms, according to opposition leader R Siva. He claimed that the House should assemble for at least a week.

Another DMK member, A M H Nazeem, demanded that the government discuss the issues brought by the opposition and convene a lengthy session. He also claimed that the government's ability to function was being hampered by a lack of collaboration from a group of officers.

The DMK legislators were seen waving placards emphasising issues that needed to be addressed by the administration. The Speaker continued to remind the opposition members that the CM would respond and requested the legislators to take a seat. His request, however, went unheeded, and the DMK and Congress MPs continued to make their cases.
