Kochi: A new organization has been formed in Kerala for people who have renounced Islam. The name of the organization is Ex-Muslim of Kerala. It aims to help and support those who leave Islam. The organization has decided to celebrate 9th January every year as 'East Muslim Day'. Former Muslim members of Kerala who came together in Kochi on January 9 have also appreciated the decision. According to media reports, he said, "We have constituted a 10-member executive committee. The membership drive is in operation. Initially, we identified 300 Muslims who renounced Islam years ago. They openly support this organization. He further said that the organization aims to give moral support to those who leave Islam, but there are many Muslims who have left Islam citing its flaws but are afraid to accept it publicly. According to Liyakkathali, former Muslims say people who leave Islam face social exclusion as well as mental and physical torture.
Due to this many people are forced to live by hiding their identity after leaving their religion. His family members have also refused to support him. Former Muslims are also targeted at their workplace. We want to support and give courage to those who are willing to leave their religion. He further said that this is the reason why the rights guaranteed by the Constitution for the former Muslims have been ensured in this organization to protect their human rights and dignity. We also plan to move the court against all atrocities committed in the name of religious traditions or practices that violate basic human rights.
