Marvel Studios' much-awaited movie "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" has been banned in Saudi Arabia and several other Arab countries. The "Doctor Strange" sequel, scheduled to be released in the US on May 6, is set to hit theaters on May 5 in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.

But according to media reports, the Censor Board of Saudi Arabia has not yet given a distribution certificate to the Benedict Cumberbatch-led superhero movie. It is being claimed by the sources that this decision by the Gulf countries is due to the homosexual character. If reports are to be believed, the character America Chavez (played by Xochital Gomez) in the movie is gay according to the comics.

Actually, homosexuality has not been promoted in the Gulf countries so far, which is why the Censor Board does not always provide certificates to movies made on LGBTQ subjects. Before "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", Marvel's "The Eternal" was also banned in Saudi Arabia.
