New Delhi: An all-party meeting has been convened by the government ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament beginning tomorrow. The government is being represented in the meeting by senior Union Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP leader in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.

Several senior leaders from the opposition side attended the meeting: Leaders of almost all parties including Mallikarjun Kharge of the Congress, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Jairam Ramesh, DMK's TR Baalu and Tiruchi Siva, TMC's Sudip Bandyopadhyay and NCP's Sharad Pawar were also present at the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Pinaki Mishra of BJD, Vijayasai Reddy and Midhun Reddy of YSRCP, Keshav Rao and Nama Nageswara Rao of TRS, AD Singh of RJD and Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena.

Several issues were discussed in the meeting: Reports say that an all-party meeting is also being convened by the government to discuss the issues and build consensus before the session begins. It is expected that in the midst of the meeting, the opposition is making headlines on the issues related to the Agnipath scheme, the economy and unemployment. At the same time, the government is expected to put forward its legislative agenda. Reports say that the monsoon session of Parliament is scheduled to begin on July 18 and is scheduled to end on August 12.

Congress raises questions on PM Modi's absence: However, Congress has questioned PM Narendra Modi's absence from the meeting. The all-party meeting has just begun to discuss the upcoming session of Parliament and the Prime Minister is absent as usual. Isn't that 'unparliamentary'? Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted.
