Now amidst all this, Brahmastra director Ayan Mukerji has given a clarification regarding this scene. Yes, recently Ayan Mukerji has issued a statement.

In his statement, he said that where Ranbir Kapoor has gone in the trailer, it is not a temple but a Durga Puja pandal. Says Ayan, “We learned from some people that he is upset with the bell ringing scene in our trailer wearing Ranbir’s shoes. I would like to humbly talk about what is happening as a director (and a devotee) of the film. In our film Ranbir is not entering the temple but in the Durga Puja pandal. My family has been organizing such Durga Puja celebrations for 75 years, which I have been a part of since childhood.

Ayan Mukerji further wrote, 'My experience is, we take off our shoes before going ahead of Devi on the stage, not even entering the pandal. Personally it's important to me that I can reach out to everyone who is saddened by this picture... Because above all, Brahmastra is a film that honors and celebrates Indian culture, traditions and history. That is the reason I have made this film. It is very important for me that this feeling reaches every Indian who is watching Brahmastra. Let us tell you that Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Rai are going to play important roles with Ranbir Kapoor in the film Brahmastra made under the banner of Dharma Productions. The story of this film has been written by Ayan Mukerji and Brahmastra is going to be made in three parts.
