Bal Gangadhar Tilak was born on July 23, 1856, in the village called Chikkan in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. His father's name was Gangadhar Ramchandra Tilak, who was a devout Brahmin. Bal Gangadhar Tilak's childhood name was Keshav. At the time of his birth, his mother was very weak. Both of them recovered after a long time of birth. The same name was also that of his grandfather's (Ramchandra Pant) father, so everyone in the family called him Balwant or Bal, so he was named Bal Gangadhar. His childhood was spent in Ratnagiri.

He was very strong and was acting according to the routine. According to the hard work of Gangadhar Tilak Ji, he was counted among the meritorious students of the school. He completed the BA and law examinations and passed with very good marks. Everyone hoped that Tilak would earn money by advocating and was going to increase the pride of the dynasty. Filled with spirituality, Tilak had taken up a vow of service to the people from the very beginning. Here learn from Tilak that taking spiritual knowledge from childhood is helping to determine life's priorities.

Not only this, but when the whole class was being punished due to a student's mistake, the administration supported wrong by expelling Bal Gangadhar Tilak from the school because of his refusal to accept the punishment. In the same way, those who show the path of truth, Kabir Saheb, who taught true devotion, had to face torture many times. Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, a visionary of the Guru system of Kabir Saheb and Garibdas Ji Maharaj, was sent to jail for the second time for the crime of paving the way for truth. This battle between truth and falsehood is long. The society realizes every day that truthful people have to bear the persecutions in the world. Many times those living with such truth litigants are ready to leave the path of truth because of their insensitive behaviour towards them.
