Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party (SP) delegation could not meet MLA Shahjeel Islam on Tuesday. A case was registered against Shahjeel Islam for making inflammatory speeches against UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A delegation of 12 members led by SP MLC Sanjay Lather had reached Shahjeel. But first the delegation kept waiting at Islam's petrol pump, which was recently demolished saying illegal.

After this these leaders reached Islam's house but the house was closed. In such a situation, he had to return without meeting him. A few days before this, SP MLA Ravidas Mehrotra could not meet Azam Khan, who was serving a sentence in Sitapur jail. However, earlier Congress leader Pramod Krishnam and Praspa chief Shivpal Yadav met Azam Khan after reaching Sitapur Jail. SP leader Azam Khan had refused to meet Ravidas. It was said from the jail administration that Azam's health is not good.

However, some reports are claiming that Azam Khan had refused to meet Ravidas. It is being told that both these political incidents are being linked to the displeasure of Muslim leaders in SP. Not only this, many SP leaders have also attacked Akhilesh Yadav's silence on the alleged persecution of Muslims in the Yogi government.
