Puri: Odisha's world-famous Jagannath temple has once again been opened to devotees on Monday after being closed for three days from December 31. An official of the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) informed that the 12th-century temple was closed to avoid congestion around the New Year in view of the increasing cases of the corona.

He has said that during these three days priests and servants performed all the rituals in the temple. The work of de-germinating the temple was also carried out. He said that following all the guidelines on coronavirus, strict arrangements have been made to ensure the convenience of devotees. In Odisha, 424 new corona cases have been found, which led to a total of 10,55,980 cases on Monday.

The health bulletin states that no one has died in the state in the last 24 hours from Corona, with the death toll stable at 8,463. The highest number of 151 new cases of infection have been registered from the Khurda district. The capital Bhubaneswar falls under this district. The newly found cases include 47 children. The bulletin noted that the number of patients treating infection in the state has increased to 2,355, while 10,45,109 patients have recovered from the infection.
