Bhopal: In the meeting of the Group of Ministers in Madhya Pradesh, it has been decided to reduce the import duty on liquor and beer. After the implementation of this decision, lovers of liquor and beer in the state will be able to get bottles of their favorite brands at low prices. Giving information about this decision, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that due to an important meeting, the decision to reduce import duty on beer and wine has been approved in the state.

In his press conference, Narottam Mishra said, 'Many issues related to the Excise Policy 2022-23 were discussed in the meeting. The GoM has given its approval for reducing the import duty on beer from Rs 30 per liter to Rs 20. At the same time, the departmental proposal to reduce the import duty on wine from Rs 10 per liter to Rs 5 per liter has been approved. In this meeting, State Excise Minister Jagdish Deora, Urban Administration and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh were present, Forest Minister Vijay Shah and many officers were also present.

At the same time, according to the Excise Department, earlier beer was available at 1200 shops in the state, while now beer is being received at about 3500 shops. Due to this consumption has also increased. It is being said that the government of Madhya Pradesh is going to reduce the import duty only because of the increase in consumption, which means demand. Liquor will become more affordable in the state due to reduction in import duty.
