For supporting then JNU and FTII students and being targeted for showing solidarity with Rohit Vemula suicide posters An IIMC professor Amit Sen Gupta resigned on Friday alleging that he was being targeted . IIMC media institute is runs by Information and Broadcasting ministry. Attacking on I&B ministery Professor said that this was a “witch hunt” and IIMC had been reduced into a “handmaiden of vicious”.

He is the associate professor in the department of English journalism. An order was passed tom transferring him to the premier media school at Dhenkanal district in Odisha. HE said, “ I have been targeted because I supported the solidarity protest for Rohit Vemula in the campus, organized independently by the students of IIMC in which other faculty members too participated.. I have been targeted also because I supported the JNU and FTII students. Sengupta wrote in his resignation letter.

Sengutpta said, “ It was an “honour” for him as a former JNSU president to address the open air gathering of faculty and students of JNU and that he was proud being part of the “ great intellectual and political tradition” of JNU. IIMC, run by the I&B ministry, has been in the news in the recent past over students alleging “casteism” against their peers belonging to the SC and ST community.
