Vijay, a well-known superstar of the South Indian film industry, has been in the news over a dispute with his family. Vijay has filed a case against his father in the Madras High Court. In fact, Vijay's father SA Chankrasekhar started a political party some time ago. The party was called All India Thalapati Vijay Makkal Iakkam. However, the actor had already made it clear that he had nothing to do with the party.

Thereafter, the actor had filed a case against 11 persons including his parents. Vijay's father now told the Chennai court that he had destroyed/dissolved Vijay Makkal Iakkam, a political organization named after his son. Submitting an affidavit in the Chennai Civil Court, Vijay's father said, "It has been submitted to the court that a General Body Meeting was held in Chennai on 28.02.2021 after giving prior letter to all the members of 'Vijay Makkal Iyakkam.''

He had taken a pledge at this general body meeting that Vijay Makkal Makkal would be abolished soon. He further said that ten defendants, who were also officials of Vijay Makkal Iikkam, have submitted their resignations in the case. He said, "Vijay Makkal Ikkam is over and now it does not exist. We are not members of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, but yes, we are all fans of Actor Vijay's films.''
