New Delhi: A union cabinet meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi is likely to be held today, a day after the Supreme Court's decision on the three new agricultural laws. PM Modi is going to chair the meeting through video conferencing. Today's cabinet meeting is important. The government can set its own strategy on what is going to be the next government's strategy after the Supreme Court has stayed the three agricultural laws. In addition, the Union Cabinet meeting today is likely to consider a proposal to reform the mining sector to increase private investment.

It has been revealed that amendments have been proposed in the Mines Minerals (Regulation of Development) Act, 1957. Earlier on Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the coal sector will play a very important role in achieving the $5 trillion economy target by 2022. He had also introduced a single-window clearance system for the coal sector, saying that the auction of commercial coal mining is going to facilitate small-medium industries to get coal easily. According to information received, the Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the implementation of central agricultural laws. The apex court stayed the implementation of the laws after the apex court on Tuesday heard a petition seeking farmers' agitation. These bans will continue until further orders. The Supreme Court has constituted a four-member committee comprising experts from agronomy to resolve the issue.

According to reports, the Farmers' Produce Trade Commerce Act, 2020, the Farmers ( Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance Agricultural Services Agreement Act, 2020, which is applied by the central government, is seeking a legal guarantee for the procurement of crops at MSP. Farmers have been agitating against these laws since November 26. The farmers blocked the borders coming to Delhi from the same day, after which these routes made it difficult to enter Delhi.
