New Delhi: IndianNavy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar, while speaking on the 'Agneepath Scheme', has said that the scheme is a "visionary step" which will play a key role in enhancing the "effectiveness and efficiency" of India's naval prowess. Admiral Kumar further said that the scheme will provide a unique experience to the 'Agniveers' to work with warships, submarines, aircraft carriers, military aircraft and the latest weapons.

In a joint press conference with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Navy Chief said, "I want to say that the Agneepath scheme is a new thinking of the new era. "We all know that the challenges of the present and the future are constantly changing and in order to deal with these challenges in a proper way, it is necessary that we change our attitudes and capabilities. He further said that the scheme will "balance" the aspirations of the youth and the future needs of the armed forces.

In a bid to meet the future security challenges facing the country, the government on Tuesday announced a scheme called 'Agneepath' to recruit soldiers in the army, navy and air force, in a paradigm shift in the decades-old defence recruitment process.   Under which the recruitment of soldiers will be done on contract basis for a short period of four years. In a major change in the decades-old selection process to recruit more deserving and young soldiers, the Defence Ministry has said that under the scheme, 46,000 jawans will be recruited in the three services this year.

Recruitment under Agneepath begins:-

Let us know that, the Indian Army has announced to start recruitment under the Agneepath scheme from June 24. This was announced by Army Chief General Manoj Pandey. He said that the government's decision to increase the age limit under the Agneepath scheme from 21 to 23 years in 2022 will give a chance to those youths who were preparing to join the force, but could not do so due to the Corona pandemic for the last two years. At the same time, Air Force Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary said that the recruitment process will be started from next Friday i.e. June 24. At the same time, retired Major General GD Bakshi has appealed to the youth who are agitating against the scheme, saying, "Don't block your path. If you get caught in such riots, you will be booked in a police case, then all avenues for you to join the army will be closed. You are blocking your way into the army, this is not the way to join the army that we should sabotage, spread chaos, damage railway property. But even after this, the miscreants across the country are indulging in violence and arson. In such a situation, the question arises whether those who burn the country will be able to serve the country by staying in the army?  Because a soldier sacrifices his life to save the country and these miscreants are burning the property of the country and attacking the police also.
