AGRA: The 29.6 kilometre Agra metro rail project is moving along quickly, p29.6-kilometreism that it would be finished considerably sooner than expected.

Five cities in Uttar Pradesh currently have metro services, and Agra, the Taj Mahal city, will soon follow suit. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has stated that the city's metro services will be in operation by the start of 2024.

In Agra, two routes are being developed for the Metro Rail project. The first 6 kilometres of the priority route will have metro service. He also saidthat the 6 km priority corridor, which runs from Taj East Gate to Jama Masjid, would be finished earlier than the target date by six months.

These three elevated metro stations namely, Taj East Gate, Basai Metro Station, and Fatehabad Road Metro Station, and also 3 underground metro stations viz: Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Jama Masjid,would be located along the six-kilometer priority route. In December 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi essentially lay the groundwork for the Agra Metro Rail.

By the beginning of 2024, Metro services will be available to the residents of Agra,  CM Yogi said. "The priority corridor of six kilometres would be completed ahead of the six months of the original objective," he added. Also, CM Yogi launched the Uttar Pradesh Rail Metro Corporation's subterranean construction of the Agra Metro Rail Project's tunnel (UPMRC).

In addition to assisting with public transportation, the Agra Metro will benefit tourists and create job possibilities for young people. He aid, metro rail services are running in Lucknow, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur.

"Agra will likewise develop into a metropolis in the future, providing a wealth of employment opportunities, enhancing tourism, and enhancing its reputation on the global map," he said.
