Mumbai: The Shiv Sena on Wednesday made blame that the claims of alleged fixer Christian Michel in AgustaWestland case were an attempt to take on  Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi ahead of the upcoming  general elections.

The Sena, a supporter of the saffron party BJP at the Centre and in Maharashtra, further made allegations that the government machinery was being distorted to pin political opponents.

Worth mention here a Delhi court hearing the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper case had last week slapped restrictions on Michel meeting with his lawyers in the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) custody.

This move came  after the agency stated he was misusing legal access by passing chits to the advocates asking them how to deal with questions on "Mrs Gandhi'.

In its plea seeking extension of Michel's remand, the ED, which is the investigating agency in the case, also claimed that he had spoken during interrogating about the "son of an Italian lady" and how he is going to become the next prime minister of the nation.

The BJP ally Sena stated when Michel was extradited from Dubai, Assembly Elections campaigns were in pick in five states and the "BJP's tail was on fire".
